After previous energy efficiency investments, Dreher (part of Asahi Europe & International) is further developing its brewery in Kőbánya, Budapest with an investment of 7 billion Hungarian Forints (approximately 18.5 million Euro). By commissioning one of the most advanced manufacturing lines and modern laboratory, Dreher will increase the production capacity of aluminum canned beers at the site by 120%, creating opportunities for exports as well. With this development, the company will also advance towards its sustainability goals concerning the carbon footprint of its products and help realise its ambitious plans to expand its non-alcoholic portfolio.

The unit and its cutting-edge quality assurance laboratory have been built employing the latest technology, allowing engineers to detect and correct faults in real-time, even remotely. This development was executed wholly using the company’s own resources.

Dreher anticipates that the investment will lead to a reduction in energy consumption and subsequently help reduce the brewery’s carbon footprint over time. Additionally, the new line will be capable of handling packaging materials from renewable sources and producing multipacks wrapped in pure carton, thus completely eliminating plastic packaging.

“At the heart of our 'Dreher to Dreher' philosophy is our unwavering commitment to seek opportunities for improvement and innovation, in line with the tradition of our founders. This ensures that Dreher, one of Hungary's oldest companies, continues to operate successfully, delivering uncompromised quality in its products. After meticulous planning, we placed the order for our new production line in early 2022 and, following rigorous laboratory tests, we expect the unit to operate at full capacity this summer,” said Gábor Békefi, CEO of Dreher Breweries.
